Unified Communications Architect

We are looking for someone to join us at our Silicon Valley campus or Wilmington Delaware campus at client IT's End User Computing team. You will be joining a team of highly motivated and talented Information Technology (IT) professionals responsible for the delivery of end user solutions that enable  engineers and scientist to invent, build, and sell state of the art Life Sciences solutions. This role is a technical architect role in the End User Computing team responsible for Unified Communications (UC) and End User Device management. You will be accountable to design and implementing unified communications solutions globally. For example, implementing/improving audio, web or video conferencing solutions.

In order to be successful, you will rely on your strong technical background. You will also use your excellent communication and vendor management skills when working with management, end-users, suppliers and other colleagues. You will be accountable for proposing the best solution to address the business needs and designing the solution partnering with security and networks teams. To thrive you must be a self-starter, curious, a quick learner and flexible to work on a variety of tasks including technical and non-technical work as required.


  • Ownership of the end to end technical architecture and architectural principles for Unified Communications (solutions focusing on End User technology; Video, audio or web conferencing tools for the office and remote end users)
  • Partner with internal client's organizations to understand their business needs and translate them into technical solutions
  • Track new trends and directions in UC technology, and determine potential impact to our organization and business
  • Develop strategies and transition plans to evolve UC solutions 
  • Consult and collaborate on architecture issues with projects and project teams across IT

Required Skills:

  • B.S degree in Computer Science
  • 10+ years working in IT in mid to large size Enterprises
  • 5+ years experience in Unified Communications (Telepresence/Video, Audio and Web conferencing)
  • 2+ years experience in global end user service management preferred
  • Previous experience managing 3rd party IT Service providers
  • Working knowledge of network infrastructure concepts and technologies, specifically as it relates to real time traffic flows, signaling, Class of Service
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a self-directed manner and learn quickly
  • Strong analytical, problem solving skills
  • Ability to effectively communicate to a wide variety of audiences
  • Ability to work as part of a team and interact effectively with others
  • Excellent attention to detail, follow up, follow through and planning skills

Minimum Education - Bachelor's Degree
Willingness to Travel - Occasionally

Must be technical, have Unified Communications Architecture experience.
